Interested in notions of authorship, I asked my models to tell me a story visually through their sets, props, costumes and attitudes but to refrain from telling me what they were trying to say. These images have therefore become co-authored stories; photographer and model each contributing to the creation of meaning.

Yesterday's opening was a great success. Sincere thanks to everyone who came out to see our work. The gallery will be opened all week for those of you who could not make it to the vernissage or who simply would like more time to view portfolios. Here it is... For those of you who are interested in seeing our work, the SPAO grad exhibition will be opening on Friday. My portfolio is printed and my mattes are cut. All I have left to do is my framing. This is getting rather exciting...

Exhibition No.4
The Latest Feat of the SPAO Portfolio Program Students.
On Friday April 17, 2009 between 15:00 and 21:00, the School of Photographic Arts: Ottawa will open its doors to the public for the vernissage of Exhibition No. 4. This exhibit is the latest of the annual series showcasing outstanding photographs produced by SPAO Portfolio Program students.

The show will display an exciting blend of photographic approaches and practices from students in all three levels. Silver-gelatin, alternative processes, digital printing and instant photography will be thoroughly celebrated.
The gallery will be opened to the public during the following hours:

Artists’ talks will be held by the students on Saturday April 18^th and Sunday April 19^th between noon and 14:00. They will discuss various aspects of their work and processes.
The week will also celebrate the launch of PUSH/PULL a magazine imagined, created and produced by the students of SPAO. The 3rd year students of SPAO have helped create a space where photography can be showcased outside the walls of the school with the creation of PUSH/PULL. Issue #1's theme is beginnings and is depicted throughout a well-designed tangible piece of art.
Please come celebrate this year with us and admire the works of this outstanding group in their pursuit of VISION, CONTENT and CRAFT.

It begins with a path...

Whether I stumbled upon this path or deliberately chose it doesn't really matter at this point. What matters is that I followed it. And loved it. Over the past two years at the School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa, I've taken my passion for images to another level. I not only developed technical skills but learned to see and think images in a different way. And as a soon to be graduate, I now find myself before a new path. This is my invitation to you to walk with me a while.
